HeatherDavidAdam and Javier enter the Process to decide which one of our hosts will win the argument on this contentious episode as we cover this thought provoking dystopian Brazilian Sci-Fi drama.

3% is the first Brazillian original production for Netflix.  The series is about a dystopian society which has divided its population into two groups; the Inland and the Offshore.  At the age of 20, Inland adults have the opportunity to make better lives for themselves and leave to live in the Offshore, but only if they pass The Process.  Only 3% of candidates pass, which is where the title comes from.  3% was created by Pedro Aguilera, and stars Bianca Comparato and João (Xiao) Miguel.

David, Javier and Kali team up to discuss the last 3 episodes of Season Three of Black Mirror, it's first as a Netflix Original!

If you would like to donate to support our show, please visit our Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/netfreaks where you can get access to exclusive content, live events and even have a chance to choose our content or join us for a show!

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.

We discuss the last three episodes in Part Two

San Junipero - In a seaside town in 1987, a shy young woman and an outgoing party girl strike up a powerful bond that seems to defy the laws of space and time

Men Against Fire - After his first battle with an elusive enemy a soldier begins experiencing unfamiliar sensations and strange technical glitches.

Hated in the Nation - The death of a journalist at the center of a social media firestorm leads a veteran detective and her tech savvy apprentice to a chilling discovery

We discuss the first three episodes in Part One

Nosedive - A woman desperate to boost her social media score hits the jackpot when she’s invited to a swanky wedding.  But the trip doesn’t go as planned.

Playtest - An American traveler short on cash signs up to test a revolutionary new gaming system, only to discover the thrills are a little too real.

DavidAdam and Javier get ready for the premiere of Black Mirror Season 3 by watching and discussing the Christmas Special from 2014 starring Jon Hamm, Rafe Spall and Oona Chaplin that continued the series' theme of technology and how it warps our world and ourselves.

We have made this episode, the first of what will be our exclusive Patreon-Only content covering Netflix content outside of their Originals, available to all of our listeners so that you can have an idea of what type of content that will be available to our donors for as little as $1 a month.  If you would like to donate to support our show, please visit our Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/netfreaks where you can get access to exclusive content, live events and even have a chance to choose our content or join us for a show!

Black Mirror: White Christmas consists of three interconnected tales of technology run amok during the Christmas season as told by two men at a remote outpost in a frozen wilderness.

We discuss the three tales (and their implications), covering the "Club", the "Home Automation System", the story of Joe and Beth and finally the conclusion that brings it all together.  And as always, we award our Who Dat and Series MVP awards!

Kate and Adam welcome special guest Vic Miller from the Showdown Podcast to talk about the political issues surrounding the new documentary by Ava DuVernay.

"The title of DuVernay’s extraordinary and galvanizing documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which reads, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States.”

The progression from that second qualifying clause to the horrors of mass criminalization and the sprawling American prison industry is laid out by DuVernay with bracing lucidity. With a potent mixture of archival footage and testimony from a dazzling array of activists, politicians, historians, and formerly incarcerated women and men, DuVernay creates a work of grand historical synthesis."
