We're having a five-way as Heather, David, Adam and Javier are joined by Summer Walker to discuss Lonely Island and Comedy Bang Bang's salute to love and pubes, Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentine's Day Special!

Michael Bolton’s Big, Sexy Valentine’s Day Special is exactly what it sounds like; a variety show featuring guest appearances from celebrities such as Andy Samberg, Adam Scott, Brooke Shields, Bob Saget, and Sarah Silverman (and that’s just naming a few!).  When Santa reveals to Bolton that there needs to be more babies in the world to match the number of toys to be made, Bolton takes it upon himself to host a “sexy telethon”, encouraging the world to get it on and meet Santa’s quota.

Heather, Adam and Javier are joined by Kate Chaplin and warn you not to listen to this podcast and especially don't enjoy their review of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events!

A Series of Unfortunate Events is an adaptation of 13 novels in a series by Daniel Handler, who goes by the pen name Lemony Snicket.  The series tells the story of the three orphaned Baudelaire children, the many homes and guardians they meet along the way, and of course, trying to keep one step ahead of the greedy Count Olaf.

For its Netflix debut,  the eight episodes divide the first four books into two episodes each. Season two and three have already been confirmed, and will use a similar two episode format for each book.

Heather, Adam and Javier decide to watch 13 episodes at a time as they talk about sitcoms, laugh tracks, Cuban culture and which character they hated the most.  NetFreaks reviews One Day at a Time!

If you would like to donate to support our show, please visit our Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/netfreaks where you can get access to exclusive content, live events and even have a chance to choose our content or join us for a show!

One day at a Time is a reboot of the sitcom of the same name that aired from 1975 until 1984.  It starred Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli, and told the story of divorced mother Ann Romano, who moves her family to Indianapolis along with her two daughters.

The reboot sees a shift in a variety of elements compared to the original, such as the casting of a Cuban family, a son taking the place of one of the daughter’s, and mother Penelope being a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, to name a few.  The reboot stars Rita Moreno and Justina Machado The original series was developed by Norman Lear, who served as a producer on the reboot.

David gives everyone else the week off and is joined by the team that will be making up our new Organized Prime podcast, Lisa Leo and John Savage.  Together, we combine in a cluster to review the Wachowski produced sci-fi craziness that is Sense8!

Sense8 was a 12 part series that premiered all the way back in June, 2015.  It was the brainchild of the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski of Matrix and Babylon 5 fame, respectively.  Starring an international cast as eight strangers from different regions of the world who unexpectedly become mentally and emotionally linked to each other. They learn that they are "sensates," a particular type of human that has the ability to psychically share their knowledge and skills with one another.  The Sense8 Christmas Special premiered as a 2 hour intro to Season Two just this past weekend on December 23rd, with the majority of the cast returning to reprise their roles.

3% is the first Brazillian original production for Netflix.  The series is about a dystopian society which has divided its population into two groups; the Inland and the Offshore.  At the age of 20, Inland adults have the opportunity to make better lives for themselves and leave to live in the Offshore, but only if they pass The Process.  Only 3% of candidates pass, which is where the title comes from.  3% was created by Pedro Aguilera, and stars Bianca Comparato and João (Xiao) Miguel.

Kate and Adam welcome special guest Vic Miller from the Showdown Podcast to talk about the political issues surrounding the new documentary by Ava DuVernay.

"The title of DuVernay’s extraordinary and galvanizing documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which reads, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States.”

The progression from that second qualifying clause to the horrors of mass criminalization and the sprawling American prison industry is laid out by DuVernay with bracing lucidity. With a potent mixture of archival footage and testimony from a dazzling array of activists, politicians, historians, and formerly incarcerated women and men, DuVernay creates a work of grand historical synthesis."
